Accretech CALYPSO

CALYPSO

“Multifunctional yet easy to use and graphical”
Global standard for the ever-evolving coordinate measuring machine software

CALYPSO is coordinate measuring machine software, which has kept evolving for over 25 years since its launch. It offers powerful support for all processes of coordinate measurement, from preparations to measurement, analysis, and subsequent reporting.

“Superb operability” makes the instrument easy to use for anyone

AI function
Automatic feature recognition
Our own measuring method and recognition algorithms enable automatic recognition of geometric forms by the direct measurement (probing) of a workpiece. It can distinguish between points, lines, planes, spheres, symmetrical points, circles, and cylinders, as well as cones, ellipses, square holes, and oblong holes. There is no need to select geometric features before measurement, which significantly shortens the procedure.

Automatic coordinate system recognition
Measured geometric elements and items required for coordinate system settings (spatial compensation, rotational compensation, origin) are determined automatically and these settings are configured.

Automatic generation of measuring path by setting safety cube (No need to input intermediate points)
CALYPSO’s safety cube philosophy eliminates the need to input probe path points (intermediate points). Once the bypass boundaries (area around the workpiece) are specified, the probe automatically moves on the safety cube so it does not interfere with the workpiece. For movement on the same surface, another safety cube can be configured to make the amount of movement smaller.

A measuring path is generated automatically in accordance with safety cube, supplementary safety cube, number of measuring points, and probing return distance.

Offline teaching is supported as standard
CALYPSO has an offline teaching function, with which you can create a measurement plan only by carrying out operations on the PC after importing a CAD model*1 without performing teaching by using actual workpieces.

Shorten leadtime by pre-creation of measuring plan
When the workpiece is in production and not available, by using CAD model and create the measuring plan, it is able to be measured immediately after the workpiece is manufactured.

Streamlining measuring plans
Equipped with the feature sorting function that minimises the travel path during measurement and an automatic recognition function for the optimal stylus, it helps create efficient measurement plans.

Automatic generation of measuring features and evaluating items*2
By importing a CAD model with PMI (Product Manufacturing Information)*2, measuring features and evaluating items can be automatically generated.

*1 For importing CAD models except for SAT format, each CAD conversion program (optional) may be required.
*2 For importing CAD models with PMI, each CAD conversion program (optional) may be required.

“Graphical reports” visualise measurement results

PiWeb reporting
PiWeb reporting is an excellent reporting engine equipped as a standard function of CALYPSO. PiWeb reporting enables template creation, searching, viewing and report generation of measurement results. Moreover, statistical analysis is enabled by the optional Piweb reporting plus. Quick and easy data analysis and reporting by PiWeb reporting contributes to a significant reduction in the time and effort previously spent on reporting large amounts of measurement data in the required format.

A “rich set of features” to meet all kinds of needs

Actual point memory (Memorising measured points)
CALYPSO memorises all the measured probing points. Even after the machine is turned off, the measured points can be used to reanalyze geometric dimensions (distance, angle, midpoint, etc.) and geometric tolerances (roundness, flatness, etc.). Measured points can be reused even after measurement is complete, eliminating the need to remeasure due to missing measurement or analysis of related measuring items or adding new measuring items. Recalculation by selecting any points from the stored measured points or deleting abnormal points. Also the error plot function which displays color levels and values for each measured point at circle and contour is available.

“Anyone can measure efficiently and in the same way” Variable Strategy Editor
Variable strategy editor is a function that allows you to set a pre-prepared measurement strategy for multiple measurement features at once. A measurement strategy is a rule that specifies how to set parameters such as the number of measurement points, number of measurement cross sections, measuring pitch, and measuring speed for measurement features (= geometric features such as points, lines, circles, planes, and cylinders). Previously, the operator could only set a measurement strategy for each individual measurement feature, or apply a measurement strategy that is predefined by the software, but this function allows you to set flexible measurement strategies using conditional branching, etc. The measurement strategy you set can be saved as a file (strategy catalog) and can be easily applied to measurement features in the measurement plan.

Autorun
This function iconises multiple measurement plans so that they can be started by simple operations. It is possible to efficiently measure multiple workpieces by placing multiple identical workpieces at regular intervals on a pallet within the measurement range (on the machine’s base) and measuring them all at once, or by continuously measuring different workpieces placed within the measurement range. Image file may be pasted on the single work icon and the junction icon. (.bmp/.jpg/.gif)

Comparison measurement plans / Version management of measurement plans
The measurement features and characteristics contained in two measurement plans can be compared. After comparing, an operator can delete unnecessary items or copy missing items from the other. It also has a version management function for the same measurement plan, so adding comments when making changes and comparing the old and new versions can be performed.

CALYPSO curve (option)
Measure 2D cross-sectional contour and compare them to design values

  • Design value comparison with point sequence data and 2D CAD data is possible. (Optional data converter is required)
  • Measurement results of unknown contour can be converted to design values.

CALYPSO freeform (option)
Evaluate the deviation of free-form surfaces from 3D CAD models

  • Design value comparison with 3D CAD data is possible. (Optional data converter is required to import CAD data in formats other than SAT)

CALYPSO planner (option)
Create a measurement plan on a PC other than a measuring machine PC

  • Enables creation of measurement programs on an office PC, which is not connected to the coordinate measuring machine
  • A measurement plan for another workpiece can be created while a workpiece is being measured, reducing wasted waiting time.

CALYPSO PCM (option)
Free control of CNC plans using program statements

  • When forms are identical, except for certain measured lengths or measured diameters, variables can be used for the reference values so multiple workpieces can be measured using the same part program.
  • Display customised message windows before or after execution of measurement plans or characteristics.

GEAR PRO (option)
Enabling gear measurement using coordinate measuring machines

  • Easy-to-understand interactive gear specification input
  • Offline license is also available that allow analysis on a PC other than the measuring machine PC (CALYPSO planner required).
