NIS-Elements is a fully featured imaging software solution for microscopy. Fast, powerful imaging processing tools are available, such as for creating a mosaic or compound image from many separate images, e.g. following a long micro-crack on a sample surface from start to finish.

For industrial applications, Nikon offers NIS-Elements AR (Advanced Research), BR (Basic Research), and D (Documentation). NIS-Elements L and LE are available for use with tablet PC).

NIS-Elements BR
Developed for standard research applications such as analysis and photo-documentation of microscopy images, NIS-Elements BR features up to four-dimensional acquisition and advanced device control capabilities.

NIS-Elements D
NIS-Elements D is a software package for photo-documentation, including basic measuring and reporting tools.

NIS-Elements L
Easily view images and control their acquisition settings for the Digital Sight 1000, DS-Fi3 and DS-Ri2 cameras on a tablet PC using NIS-Elements L.

Large Stitching Module (Large Image) (Motorised Stage Option for NIS-BR/D)
The module stitches together images acquired from multiple fields of view. It can be performed as images are acquired or from previously captured images.

Auto Measurement (Object Counting) (Option for NIS-D)
Perform binary thresholding on images using preset parameters to measure features by size, area, object count, pixel brightness and fractional analysis to quantify relative percentages. These are selected examples of the product features available.

Materials Cast Iron Module (Option for NIS-BR/D)
Cast iron analysis: graphite content or graphite-corrected samples can be detected, measured and classified according to JIS G5502, ASTM A247-06, and ISO945-1 standards.

Materials Grain Size Module (Option for NIS-BR/D)
Grain size analysis: grains in single-phase and two-phase material samples can be detected and measured according to JIS G0051, ASTM E112-13, E1382-97, ISO643, and GB/T 6394 standards.

HDR (High Dynamic Range) Image Acquisition (Option for NIS-BR/D)
HDR creates an image with appropriate brightness in both the dark and bright regions by combining multiple acquired images having different exposure settings. It is also possible to create an HDR image using previously captured images.

EDF Module (Motorised Stage Option for NIS-BR/D)
The EDF module creates a single, all-in-focus image utilising multiple images from different focus planes. Such images can now be created in real-time by simply turning the focus know. (Both motorised and manual focusing are available.)
